Ortho Cube problems when editing 2015

Hi,

we have problems when editing the ortho cube in a large but simple 3Ds, seems like it looses reference. see photo. All Snaps off. This doesn't happen in small 3Ds. When I say large I mean a large area not a large loado of 3D objects

thanks

Can someone help us with this ?  as we are not able to edit the cube, every time we want a particular ortho view we have to generate the whole plant.

Autodesk has a solution or not ?  please advice

thanks

Is this only happening with this one drawing, the one you've attached?

What was this drawing created with? What software and version?

Was this drawing migrated from an earlier version?

Did you receive this drawing from someone outside your office/company?

What's the detailed history of this drawing -since it seems to be the probable culprit?

Answers to your questions:

-No, any drawing with midium/large dimensions does that.

-It was created in a AutoCAD Plant3D 2015 project

-No it was not.

-No, we did it here in our office

-As I said, any new drawing with large midium/dimensions has this problem. All you have to do is create a new project, a new 3d drawing (in this case with dimensions 380000mm x 250000mm) and then create an Ortho New View. There I attached another new one

Seem to be a bug of the software

thanks

I'm looking into this further and will get back to you in another post.

In the meantime, it would be helpful to know if any others who are following this thread are experiencing similar issues with the OrthoCube in AutoCAD Plant 3D 2015?  If so, please post specifics on what you're experiencing. And please include if it's with an imperial project or a metric project.

Yes i see problem with ORTHO,

long time generation

TOP view is empty, white window ( LEFT for example is ok )

problem with TOP view i think is problem with ORTHO CUBE, something wrong with ORTHO in 2015 but i dont have time to test it

It may be that some third-party apps running in your project or drawing are contributing to this. In the drawing you attached, I did a purge on registered applications ( -pu regapps) and deleted over 5,890 registered applications in the drawing!

However, it does seem that the OrthoCube in 2015 is struggling with larger coordinates.  I did a pipe loop of 600 meters x 400 meters and Plant 3D 2014 handled it fine with Orthos. I migrated that same project to 2015 and the OrthoCube exhibits the same behavior you're getting. So I apologize for this. I will escalate to the development team immediately.

HI,

you think this will get fixed soon or we have to find a different solution ?

thanks

I know this is on the development teams' radar and is very important to them. However, I do not know how soon it will be available. Hopefully it will be in a future service pack or hot fix before too long.  You may want to consider working around this issue by finishing your current project in 2014, or just doing the orthos in 2014 with a copy of the project, or even testing to see if there's a way for you to use an Imperial template in 2015 for now to get the results you need.

This Orthocube glitch for metric projects in 2015 is now corrected with Plant 3D 2015 Service Pack 1.

Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D 2015 Service Pack 1

SP1 may have fixed the metric issue but now I have it in a 2015SP1 english drawing.

It does not happen in all of the drawings, just one that migrated from 2014.

I can update one elevation view but the plan and another elevation go blank.

This is the text generated when view updates:

"Path was moved to the center of the profile".
Msg repeated about 20 times.

I can create an adjacent view but once I edit, goes blank again.

I have tried a number of things to include copying to a new project and stripping the piping.

No effect.

are there any hotfixes for this for 2014, or will we have to work around this until we upgrade?

Our drawings are defined by global coordinates and we don't have the option to move our fittings closer to the origin, as that would really mess up our coordination model in Navis.

I believe so-- I'm running 2014 extension 2 and have installed every patch I've been able to get my hands on. If there's no solution, then I'll just have to work around it and wait until the next project where we'll probably just jump to 2016
