Orhtos locking model files.....

Silly question, but is there anyway that we can stop ortho creations locking up the model files? I realise this is done so you cant change the model while creating drawings but as our models are quite large, they lock when producing orthos.

You could xref the model file into a separate model file and just use that for ortho generation.

Thank you for your speedy reply and your suggestion, yeah we have tried this method, but it still locks up the various models, halting other designers.

Autdesk Vault appears to solve the problem to locking files and speedign up performance issues. in a company im workign for implementing a management tool such as Vault isnt without its challanges, but none the less trials show that it works.

Has anyone come up with a better solution to this problem? Nobody can open drawings while someone is updating Orthos...
