Lug Butterfly Valve Issues

When I try to insert a Lug type butterfly valve I get the error attached. I'm running the pipe then dropping the valve in the middle of it. I get the error along with no flanges or gaskets. If I start with a flange then add the valve, mating flange, then the pipe on both ends I don't get any errors and the gaskets come in. Why would it think I'm trying to connect LUG to PPL anyhow? Wouldn't it assume that a LUG end type would need a FL end type against it? I'm on Plant3D 2014 by the way....

Check your settings versus those shown on attached image.

Mine looks just like that. See attachment....

You might check the facing and pressure class of the valve, bolts, gaskets and flanges just to make sure they all match.  I don't think you would be able to place the parts manually if they didn't but it may be worth checking.

What Spec File are you using? An out of the box Plant 3D spec or a custom spec? If you are using a custom spec you might want to try inserting a lug butterfly valve with one of the the out of the box specs to see if you are having the same issue. If you are not having the same issue, then compare the specs and see what the differences are that might be causing the issue.

I figured out the solution! I had to add PPL to End 2 of my compound joints auto flange joint. Everything works as it should now...
