Iso Sheet as a Property

I would like to know if anyone has any information on adding and controlling the iso sheets as a property. Or as a matter of fact adding custom properties that designers would typically assign to components. This is very important to us, because we typically reports against iso sheets and some custom properties for example WBS (Work Breakdown Structure). We were told that a patch was supposed to come out on 2013 SSP. I am still yet to see this feature. If anyone has any information, we would be grateful. Thanks.

Are you looking to split iso sheets and use properties for the work breakdown structure as part of the individual components or per line number/line group?

AutoCAD Plant 3D 2014 Extension 1 now has additional options (Advanced Defaults) in Project Setup:

From here you can select a property that you want to use for the iso splitting.

From what I experienced in testing, it's more difficult to use a part property (i.e. assigning a WBS property to pipe components) and have it split versus using a line group property.

When using a pipe component property you have to select each individual component and then set the WBS property, but using the line group you can just select any section of pipe or component that belongs to the line group and set it for the whole line. Granted, the iso will still split when the line group/line number changes so the property change wouldn't matter.

We also have some additional information about Iso sheet splitting in section 6.2.2.1 of the "De-mystifying AutoCAD Plant 3D Isometrics" whitepaper.

This requires some manual modification to the IsoConfig.xml file with AutoCAD Plant 3D 2013 and Plant 3D 2014 (pre-Extension 1.)  With the new options for iso splitting in Plant 3D 2014 Extension 1 you can set this through the user interface inside Project Setup.

Hi Jorge,
Yes you can use these properties, but it depends what for. Typically they are use in continuations etc, but we need to be careful. The properties need to be in the Iso.atr such as below, IsoDoc and IsoSht are relevant to you.

BOM-ATTRIBUTES
EngineeringItems.Schedule
EngineeringItems.PressureClass
EngineeringItems.Material
EngineeringItems.CutLength
Fasteners.ExtraLen
EngineeringItems.IsoDoc
EngineeringItems.IsoSht

HTH's

Dave
