I'm now working on a project which need to demolish some part of the piping and do some revision on the demoed part.
Wondering how everybody do this kind of process in 3D?

Create two models, one with the existing model and then create a new model.
Sorry, should of put more detail in the answer... We change all the existing lines to NUMBER-EXISTING and continue the (new routed line) with the number of that line.
Example: Tie point at a flange 1234-EXISTING -----| * |--------1234 *TP-01
Got it.....
But that's another my problem ....
somehow I put XXXX-existing in the line number tag, the" existing " well fall into SPEC column in the tag.
For example
Our line tag number is go with sequence as Service/line number/SPEC/size/insulation.( "/" means different column when entering).
I got my original line is WBF/B111/A/3"/H2. Which give me a line number WBF-B111-A-3"-H2
And I want to make it to existing, so I create a service "(exist.)" (cause our pipe color is seperate auto. by servie)
now I type (exist.)/WBF-B111/A/3"/H2, the line number show (EXIST.)-WBF-B111-A-3"-H2
BUT the Tag number show (EXIST.)-WBF-WBF-B111-3" and the SPEC on the new part will become B111.....
And how did I copy one pipe to another drawing with the line number un-change?? (the line number aways disapear when I copy and paste the pipe to another drawing.)
Here are a couple of answers:
1.) Your line number will show WBF-XXXX-EXISTING-A-3"-H2. If this is a format issue (in the title block) with the long line number you may have to adjust manually each existing line or create another title block to use when dealing with existing line numbers. Or remove the dash so it looks like this...WBF-xxxxEXISTING-A-3"-H2
2.) We also use service for pipe color but I wouldn't add (exist) to service. You can always add another process field in the setup and add a seperate field on the ISOs so it says (EXISTING).
3.) We were told by Autodesk not to use COPY/PASTE when coping one line to another drawing. You should always wblock out the line and insert and explode into the other drawing.

Why not just change the STATUS property of the line to be Existing?
You still need to change the status to existing but you don't want do extract the existing line with the new line.
