Edit Reference and Realistic Visual Style Faded

I was editing my drawing in  source file and wanted to change my xref.  Not being real familar with the ribbion I changed something in the insert/reference  ribbon and now my realisitic style is faded like it is in some editing mode.  The image is greyed out along with some text that was white now grey.  I think it has to do with the edit reference command but not sure.

Other styles don't seem to be affected just realistic.  Any suggestions

Could you have inadvertantly entered a 'block edit' mode and just need to exit that edit mode?

Please post some screenshots so we better visualize what you're describing?

What specifically did you change in the ribbon?

When you reboot, does it still look the same?

I moved on from the problem; I copied into another source file and moved on after it appeared to solve the problem.

Attached are the views of the assembly piece in Realistic (faded) Concept (not faded) and Hidden (not faded).  Finally copied into another separate source drawing Realistic (not faded).  It's puzzling to me; but probably a simple explanaiton.  I'm not in block edit mode but it gives the appearance as if I'm in edit mode.
