Missed one.

So you actually had to uninstall Plant and not just Extension 1?

Yep, in my case and in a couple of my clients, we had to completely uninstall/reinstall Plant3D to get it fixed.  I hope Adesk fixes it soon, cuz the additions and all that the Ext 1 promises look great.

I have had no issues as of yet with Extension 1.  Everything is working well.

Hey Scott:  It seems not everyone is having problems.  I have been trying to figure out what may be the differences in either system settings or maybe even if it could be related to extra Suites installed, like where I have Plant Suite, FDS and BDS.

Good point.  I am just using PDSU 2014.  I have PDSU 2013 still loaded as well but not using it.  I am generating models with extensive XRefs, p&id's, and orthos, including using custom specs & cats and custom equipment from Inventor so it is getting a work-out.

It would be good to see who is having issues and find the commonalities.

Have you refered some of the customers to the README? There are some items in the Feature Limitations and Notes that address installation issues with Extension 1.

Quentin, thanks for following this thread.  Yes, we reviewed the Readme, but in each case, the Readme "watch-out-for-this" did not apply.  I am currently going thru the install of the Ext 1 once again and will compare with a install of Ext 1 on our training PCs to see what differences may be noticable.  Will give an update on that shortly.

Here is what I have found with my reinstall of Ext 1 on a fresh install of Plant 3D.

REGENALL must be performed on all Orthos and all Isos, what I mean is:

If i have multiple Orthos open, and toggle between them, I will need to REGENALL.  This will also happen if I have multiple Orthos and Isos open.  When I toggle from an Iso to an Ortho, I must REGENALL.

If I have multiple ISOs open, similar to the Orthos, provided I am looking at the ISOs in model space.  Seem ok if I am viewing the ISOs in PaperSpace.

My original problem that caused me to reinstall P3D in the first place has not come back, which was locking up during Ortho creation.  One note, I definately believe the dialog that says "this may take several minutes" when creating Orthos.  The only thing I can think of that is different is I did uninstall/reinstall .NET Framework 4.5.

Some have reported anomolies in ISO creation, but I am not seeing that.

All my orthos have xrefs, and seem to work fine.

Dimscale looks good.

Properties Palette good.

All my tests were with existing projects.

I tested on another PC that had only Plant Design Suite, no other suites installed.  Same issue with REGENALL, but none of the problems others people have reported.

So, at this time, for me, I think I will put up with having to REGENALL in exchange for the added functions/capability of the Ext 1.

I recommend that in any given environment, that one person on the Plant team install the Extension and do some detailed testing before everyone on your team installs it.

And I do request any feedback from others on this issue.  I do believe the Plant Team at Autodesk is always pursuing quality with this product and will be attentative to all issues.

Dennis thank you for the follow up. I will do some additional testing on my end on the REGENALL issue. I will also pass this on to development if I am able to recreate the issue as well. Thanks Again! Smiley Happy

i discovered this morning that the REGENALL issue has reared its head in 3D model drawings as well, since installing the Ext 1

Looks like I have the Orthographic Views not loading problem as well.  Smiley Mad

EricNyh, are you saying the REGEN issue with the ORTHOs or are you saying ORTHOs will not even open?  If they are not loading, can you elaborate.  Do they show in Ortho list of the Project Browser?  If you create a new one, does it not show up?

Sorry for not being clear. I was referring to http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-Plant-3D/Ortthographic-Views-not-loading/td-p/4354367

When I create an ortho, I can see and select my xref'd models from the list, the ortho cube shows up, I can adjust the cube to the limits I want, but when I create the ortho, all I get is a blank viewport.

The views do show up in the Project Browser.

Ok, I believe I got it to work.  This project was started from a migrated 2013 default project.  For some reason, the migration process does not copy folders correctly.  When I "Copy settings from an existing project" the process is not making the folder structure under "\Orthos\" properly.  Under the Orthos folder, there should be a folder called "DWGs", "Orthocube Library", & "Styles".

What's happening is that the copy process makes a folder called "\Orthos\DWGs" and then places "DWGs", "Orthocube Library" and "Styles" underneith.

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-Plant-3D/P3D-2014-Ortho-Generation-Settings-Lost/m-p/3929690#M...

Hopefully this makes sense.  I thought I fixed my default project the last time this happened....

I am happy to say, Smiley Very Happyfirst I got a new(er) laptop with the NVIDIA Quadro K3000M graphics card.  And found the REGEN issue I was having with Extension 1 has gone away.  Woot.  Now, I am having no problems what so ever with the Extension.

I suspect now, those who are experiencing problems with the extension may find that it is more related to their hardware rather than the extension itself.
