Crash after installing Autodesk® AutoCAD® Plant 3D 2014 Extension 2

Hello

nice idea to install Autodesk® AutoCAD® Plant 3D 2014 Extension 2 x64 (WIN7) on friday 😞

P3D doesn't start anymore. It crashs always after 'Vorbereiten der Arbeitsumgebung - PROJECTMANAGER' when it switsches to full screen mode.

What can I do? (I don't want to reinstall P3D)

Thanks

Guido

Hi Guido,

on my site Ext 2 works fine. Test the following four topics to resolve the issue here (I'm sorry but some of them has to do with re-install or similary stuff). Do the topics in this order:

  1.  Reset Autodesk Userprofile
  2.  Try Diagnostic Mode
  3.  Repair the installation
  4.  Clean uninstall and re-install
  • Reset Autodesk Userprofile

Note: Make sure that you back up any customized AutoCAD Plant 3D files before implementing this procedure

Close AutoCAD Plant 3D

  • Delete the following folders in Windows Explorer:
    • %AppData%\Roaming\Autodesk\<version of AutoCAD Plant 3D>
    • %AppData%\Local\Autodesk\<version of AutoCAD Plant 3D>
      • <version of AutoCAD Plant 3D>: for example: AutoCAD Plant 3D 2014
  • Delete the following registry key***:
    • HKeyCurrentUser\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\<Release version>\ACAD-<Product version>:<langunage version>
      • <Release version>: R19.1: 2014; R19.0: 2013; R18.2: 2012; R18.1: 2011; R18.0: 2010
      • <Product version>: D017: Plant 3D 2014; B017: Plant 3D 2013; A017: Plant 3D 2012; 9017: Plant 3D 2011
      • <Language version>: e.g. 407: German; 409: English
  • Restart AutoCAD Plant 3D
    • A progress bar pops up. This is the secondary installer. All deleted files and the registry key will be recreated.

***Warning: Improperly editing the Windows registry could render your operating system unusable.

  • Try Diagnostic Mode

Running Plant 3D in daignostic mode checks if some other service/application is prevending the correct run of AutoCAD Plant 3D.

  •  Start - Run - MSCONFIG - Enter
  •  Check 'Diagnostic Mode' in tab 'General'
  •  Tab 'Services': Uncheck all except 'FlexNet Licensing Services 64'. This service needs Plant 3D for the start
  •  Tab 'Startup': Uncheck all
  •  Reboot your machine and test

If it is now working then a different service/application is prevending the correct start of Plant 3D. You have to re-check the services/tools again till you get the wretch.

  • Repair the installation

Do a repair of the installation (not a re-install) via control panel - programs and features

  • Clean uninstall and re-install

Look for those article to do a clean uninstall and re-install:

Please, let me know if I could help you.

Regards

Bernd

Did you manually replace any dlls with a hotfix? You'll need to put back the original DLL before installing Ext 2 if you did.

Also, did you happen to install an AutoCAD Service Pack?

No, I don't have installed service pack of Autocad. Only Plant3D 2014 , extension 1, and extension 2

Hi

yes I've installed 'AutoCAD_PNID_2014_PID_Tagging_Hotfix_64bit' some weeks ago.

It is necessary to install Ext 1 before installing Ext 2? Because I didn't...

OK

I've uninstalled P3D.

Installed it again. Reboot

Installed Ext 2. Reboot

And P3D works again.
