Can't change pipe properties spec

I found the help page (shown below) that tells me I can select a punch of pipes and fittings and I can click and change the spec of them all at once.   This does not work for me nor anyone else in my office.  I can route a single pipe, and can only change a pipe or fittings spec 1 at a time using assign tag.

I want to be able to select a bunch of pipes and fittings and change everythings spec at 1 time like it ays I can, how come I cannot?  Any ideas or suggestions?  I am familiar with the Project setup and we have customized somethings to meet our companies standards.  Could this be why?cANT CHANGE PIPES SPEC.PNG

So if you do a Window Crossing across different parts and then look at the properties palette, you can't change the spec of all the items there?

TomislavGolubovic, thanks for the response,

And yes that is correct, I cannot change multiple parts at the same time.

Hello Blorich, I realize this post is a few years old, but I am having the same issue as you have listed here.  Did you ever get this resolved?..

This functionality works on an out of the box project, but not on my customized project, and as far as I can recall, all of my customization has only been within the P&ID portion of Plant3D.  I am using v2015.

I'd suspect this is due to having the Spec set as read-only on at least one of the classes of items you are selecting.

Thanks Jabowabo, I liked the idea you suggested.  Unfortunately that was not the issue for me.  Turns out, the reason why I could not change Spec via the properties palette, was because my Pipe Run Component Tag format has incorporated the "TargetObject.Spec" into it, and that seems to prevent the software's ability to change the spec from the Properties Palette.  I will continue to investigate further, as I need to incorporate the Spec into the Pipe Tag.  See Screenshot below

Try to use the "spec" property under Piping and Equipment level. That's what i am using right now and i hope it'll work for you. Thanks

Thanks Pat,

I created an Out Of The Box (OOTB) project, and am trying your solution, but am not having any success.  I have tried the following 3 paramaters at the level you suggested, within the "Pipe Run Component"

  1. TargetObject.Spec
  2. Piping and Equipment.Spec
  3. Pipe Run Component.Spec

Could you please provide me with a screenshot of your Pipe Run Component Tag Format Setup, and I will try and replicate.

I think you are creating the Tag format in the wrong Level. go to P3D Line Group then create your tag format there. Please see attached file. Thanks and hope itll help.

I had the same problem. I found that the pipe & fitting sizes need to exist in the specs you wish to change to. After that I was able to transfer objects from one spec to onother. Hope that helps.

Have you had any issue gettting those specs to come across on an Iso? When we use anything other than Nominal Spec it will not show up automatically on the iso border. The progam does not have any other attributes in the title block editor than nominal spec. What was your work around to get those attributes to show up?
