Bent Nozzle

How do you control the projection and angle of the nozzle flange on a bent nozzle? I can only get the nozzle to face 180 when in the center of the vessel. I need it to face east or @90deg plus I need it to project outside the skirt 9". Is this possible in Plant 3D with out editing specs?

Also

How do you get North to be 0deg, East to be 90deg, South to be 180deg, and West to be 270deg? Right now the South is 0deg, East is 90deg, North is 180deg, and West is 270deg.

have you tried rotating the equipment?? As per your attachment. The only solution we have done in our projects are to create a custom Bent nozzle in the catalog. I had copied a default bent nozzle, edited it to match the dimension a needed, then its done. Thanks, i do not know if it is the solution you desire, but i hope it helps. Thanks.

Yes I tried to rotate the equipment but P3D is the only program I know that models equipment nozzles CCW. I have never seen a vessel drawing that shows nozzles CCW.

I would have to agree with patpat79. Rotate your equipment as needed and also create custom Bent nozzles in the catalog as needed.

Here is a great link from a past AU class that helps with Equipment and Part Building in Plant 3D.

If you feel the vessel need more editable option please leave you remarks and suggestion to this feedback page for the Plant 3D development team is aware on them.

I can't accept those solutions. Every equipment building program uses north as 0 and east as 90. Not only are the projection nozzles placed at 0 south but the axial are placed based on 0 west. Why 2 orientations for one vessel.

This is still an issue in 2014. The need to create custom nozzles with edited length/radius is annoying, but I guess there is no option but to live with that in the meantime. However we can only get bent nozzles to face 270deg in WCS.

Rotating the equipment is not an acceptable solution as this creates conflict/inconsistencies with overall the plant and equipment orientation scheme and detail drawings.

Has this been resolved in 2015?

If not, will it be resolved in future releases?
