Do any manufactures make plant 3d catalogs available for download? Just curious because I want a 2" 3-way valve. Do I really need to make a new part every time something is not in the base ASME catalog provided? There seems to be numerous common piping items that are not included.
Thanks in advance!
If there is something you need, and its not in the catalog/s, there are a few options for you.
1. Make the new part yourself (either from the pre defined parametrics or AutoCAD Block), put it into another catalog or make your own catalog with your own parts
2. Download one of the other catalogs from the Plant Exchange website, which might suit your needs
3. Make a Custom Part in the model itself, if its a one off.
I always lean towards Option 1, as once its in the catalog, and the dimensions and values are what you require, then its there for you for future projects.

If you cannot find what your looking for, The best bet is just to build your own catalog.
I used some of the exhange catalogs, then when I found it was missing quite a few fittings,
I quickly modeled them up and build my own catalog combining the two.
I have had to do this for PVC Sch 40, PVCu and HDPE.
Once you get the hang of it, it does go by quite quickly.
There are numerous 3-way valves in the ASME Valves Catalog.
You can simply duplicate a valve, then rename it and change the properties as necessary, size, rating, rf, etc..
After you have created the type of valve and sizes you require, simply save the valve to the catalog. I would create a back-up copy of the original catalog before making any changes.
All that remains is to add the valve to your spec.
Hope this helps
