Auto-generated valve numbers starting with sheet number

Hi,

Is there a way to create a tag setup to autogenerate valve number starting with the sheet number?  Say on P&ID sheet # 01, I want the valve numbers to start with the page number (01) and then the valves in sequence.  So the first valve (say it's a ball valve) would be B-0101.  The second one would be B-0102 and so on.

You should be able to accomplish this through the project setup. I would first recommend referring to the AutoCAD P&ID document called, AutoCAD P&ID Customization: Everything from Tags and Annotations to Symbols. This will help you with your questions as well as any additional future customization.

I will also, be posting a link to an Autodesk Screencast video showing how to setup the valve tagging you are wanting to setup. I will post that shortly to your forum post as well.

However, one step was overlooked. Make sure the vavle tags VALVECODE define expression is changed to No expression (free style value). At the end of the video, a question mark appears when I try to edit the valve. This is cause by not setting it to No expression (free style value).
