i have created some symbols, the layer they are on is green, is there a way of changing the colour they display as in the tool pallet without changing the colour of the block or layer?

I think it only reads off the colors embedded in the block. You might post on the genral Autodesk message board. There might be an AutoCAD guru who knows how to change the colors on tool palette images.

I finally figured this one out. You need to make a .PNG image of what you want it to look like in the tool palette. For instance I was trying to put in new line types and I wanted them to be the right color. Using MS Paint I created a .PNG image with a big fat line of the right color right thru the middle. I also colored the background close to what the tool pallette background looks like. Save it as a .PNG to the Image directory buried under the support directory under USERS on the root.

Go into a P&ID drawing and select the right pallette. Right click on the line image and select PROPERTIES. Right click on the image on the left side and do SELECT IMAGE. then select the .PNG you just made, click OK and it should change the image in the Pallette.

It's a pain in the you know where but it works.
