I like to get some general feedback before I download the demo version of P&ID.
I would imagine that it works alot like Cadworx P&ID.
Can you spec drive your valves etc.?
Does it create linelist (I am guessing this is a yes, since it's database driven.
Is it easy to add additional symbols?
Most importantly, can you network liscence it, so I don't have to buy 8 copies when at most at one time only one person would be using it, but that one person could be one of 7 people.
I am guessing it is not LT compatable?
Any major problems you guys have come across.
Thanks
Zuccus

hi
-yes you can spec your valves etc.
-yes it does create line list
-yes it easy to make additional symbols. uses ordinary autocad blocks with just a small adjustment.
-yes you can use network licenses. the same way as ordinary autocad
-it is not LT compatible.
we have started using it on a project and we are very satiesfied with the way it works. the challenges that we have come across has been solved smoothly together with autodesk.

Thanks Dean,
If you don't mind me asking, what major problems have you come across that you had to work out with AutoDesk?

hi
no major problems, just challenges
the automatic grip substitution of our own symbols needed a little work to function correct.
the other issues was just training.
i gladly recommend this software

Yesterday I received the trial version of Acad PID 2007. I have worked with other P&ID tools like Intergraph PDS2D, SmartPlant, AutoPLANT, Aveva VPE P&ID etc. I should admit that AutoCAD P&ID is promising.
I have a question to those who already started using this tool, can we get the "Source" and "destination" of the lines when we export the line list? I couldn't find anything like that.

Hi Abdul and All,
It is good to hear the positive feedback regarding the P&ID product.
With regards to the question on Source and Distination in the line list, this is currently not in this first version of the software. We are aware of this and currently working on fixing the reports to include these in the line lists. Unfortunately I cannot give you a date on when this will be available to customers but it should be some time fairly soon.
Thanks for the feedback

Can you tell me how off page connectors are working with the tagformats. I can't see how it works. Some customers use selfdesigned connectors. Is there a way to convert them or do we have to make new ones and if this last is the matter how do we have to make new connectors with tags that will work?

The first release of the software does not support this. It only allows the
geometry and text positions to be customized, the string displayed at each
position is hard wired into the AcPpOffPage custom entity.
We are adding a new offpage custom entity class that uses tag formats in the
same way as general instruments in the upcoming release.

Jury is still out for me........training courses are few and far between (still 4 weeks away from even doing a course) and i find the forum help a little frustrating at times. If there was to be an award for the most posts this year - i think i'd win hands down - as for the answers - some I still haven't even got responses from Autodesk.
