I am having problems with keeping the text visible on my off-page connectors. It disappears when I use the "REGEN" command.

I add the off-page connector to the drawing and attach the line to it. I add the text to the connector and type "REGEN". When i do this, the text is no longer visible.

Any solutions would help

The same problem eventually appears in all of my drawings. It's not a matter of "if" but "when."

The solution I use is simply to delete all of the Smart Text in the connector and replace it with text boxes. Does it defeat the purpose of Smart Parts? Yes, but it gets the job done.

You can also move the off page connector and the text will reappear, but that's not exactly the most elegant solution.

Thanks for your response. I've asked the software and QA folks to look into
the problem. I don't have a solution now, but we'll investigate and post any
suggestions here.

One other thing I have noticed that seems to come with the problem of the disappearing text described by the OP is that the grips on the offpage connector seem to move from their standard location. The "Connect to" grip moves about a quarter inch/unit below the other grip. I've tried going into the block editor in the Project Database Manager and reloaded the block but this does not fix it.

I am looking into the issue but I am not able to reproduce it.
Which release are you seeing this in (AutoCAD P&ID 2008 or AutoCAD P&ID 2009). Also, feel free to provide any more information you have that could possibly be triggering this.

I'm using 2008, but I can't speak for the OP.

It is difficult for me to reproduce because the drawings/symbols become corrupt and I don't notice until it has already happened.

I am almost certain I will not be able to provide the drawings since our client requires confidentiality.

I have the same problem with text, My text disppears when i create a viewport, the viewport does not allow you to see certain text, when you switch to model space it is there. I have tried exploding the tag but all I see is the box or the Mark. I have tried, copying the properties, purging and auditing the drawing. Please Help.

Can you give me an idea as to which text? Is it random, or does one type of
annotation work while others do not?

I figured it out. it was the anno visibility. It was turned off. I never new what this button was for. it took me nine hours to do a 2 second job.

Same problem occurs here (I have SP1 installed).

Changing anno visiblity down by the status bar never did anything (does change for some, not all) Edited by: funkbro2 on Mar 10, 2009 3:02 PM
