    Custom object tagging problem

I'm getting a problem with a custom added object. I created several new valve symbols. With some, not all, the symbol automatically changes to the generic "hand valve" symbol when I assign a tag. Anyone run across this problem before?
    Please use plain text.

What steps did you use to do this?

    Thanks,

    Jorge

After entering Project Setup, I drill down to P&ID Object Definitions|EngineeringItems|InLineAssest|HandValves. I have tried several variations with the same result, but initially, I right clicked on ValveGeneral and selected New. After naming the new Object Definition, I clicked Add Symbol..., and created a new symbol by importing a block from another file. After adding it to a the Tool Palette, I encountered the problem. I've tried experimenting with different changes to various fields under Edit Symbol... and Properties, but that did not help.

The problem occurrs after insertion of the object. Intially it looks correct, but if I assign a tag (either during initial creation or by right clicking and choosing Assign Tag), the object changes to the generic hand valve symbol with not way to change it back.

Thanks for the info, I will try to reproduce the problem.

I was unable to reproduce but I am using a different version of the product
(currently under development). Can you send me the block definition you are
importing to make sure this is not a content related issue?

    Thanks.

I've attached the block. After it was imported, I made minor modifications (layering) to ensure that the linework appeared correctly.

Ok this is what I did on my version of
    P&ID:

    1. First I opened your DWG and noticed there isn't a
block definition, so I created a blk_slice_gate block using the mid point of
the vertical line in the center as the insertion point.

    2. Then I saved and closed the drawing and went into
      Project Setup

    3. Navigated the class hierarchy to:
      EngineeringItems, InLineAssets, HandValves, ValveGeneral

    4. Right clicked on ValveGeneral and selected New,
then named the new class MySliceValve

    5. Clicked the Add Symbol button on the top right and
browsed to the drawing and selected blk_slice_gate

    6. In the same dialog I specified the Symbol Name as
      myblk_slice_gate and hit OK.

    7. The project setup dialog now shows a preview of
the valve and I click the Add to Tool Palette to add the new class to the tool
      palette for placement.

    8. Hit OK to dismiss project setup.

    9. Placed the symbols from the TP and right clicked
the entity to assign the Tag.

The appearance of the valve did not change. Try the
steps above in a new project and let me know if you have problems. If it works
in a new project but doesn't in your existing project then we can explore things
further. If those steps fail in a new project, then I will log a defect against
the software so that it can be confirmed as reproduceable on our side and verify
it is fixed in the current version.

    Thanks,

    Jorge
