AutoCAD P&ID

Hello all. I have recently downloaded the 30 day trial in an attempt to prove to my company that we need this valuable tool.

In doing so, I am attempting to creat some of our needed P&ID's

I have opened a new file and began by trying to insret a "recipricating compressor" component in the model space directly from the tool pallet. I have chosen the P&ID DIN workspace tool pallet.

I see all the tools I need, but can not get them to be applied to begin a drawing. I have tried placing a pneumatic line first and then applying the compnent as well to no avail.

I am sure it is just a matter of the correct process and the correct format.

Can someone point me in the right direction to get started?

If the software installed correctly, this should be real easy. Pick a piece of equipment on the tool palette using the mouse. Move to the drawing and select an insertion point. Select a line on the tool palette. Then pick a starting point on the drawing and pick the next point as a connection to you piece of equipment.

If you can't do this, there may be something wrong with your installation.

heres a tip - watch the online videos first - then dont drop and drag..just click once on the palette then click to place on the dwg area.

It is the best tool, and do yourself and your company a favor - get an Autodesk onsite demo and make sure the suits are in attendance.
