Do OPC's self-populate once line numbers are assigned and they are present in multiple drawings? From what I can tell you have to manual fill them in. I'm wondering why not make them intelegent enough to know that if the line number is present in two P&ID's they will self populate their to and from's.

They should self-populate. Are you connecting them?

Unfortunately I cannot get mine to work correctly and have to manually put the drawing number in... Take a look at this thread...

Cory,

This is possible to do. It just takes a little bit of configuration in Project Setup. You would need to create two new off page connector styles under this class:

P&ID Class Definitions -> Non Engineering Items -> Connectors -> Off Page Connector

In the screen captures attached, I created "Off Page Connector TO" and "Off Page Connector FROM". The reason why to separate symbols are needed is because the process lines store the To/From information in two separate data fields.

The default off page connector block was modified and saved with a new name for each one. The only modification needed was changing the data source for the lower annotation (see second screen capture).

Jason,

I have never been able to get the OPC's to auto-populate, any of the fields. I would at least expect the drawing number to work, but it doesn't. I created the two styles as you suggested and re-added them to the drawing, connected them and nothing. Do have any idea why they are not working for me?

Thanks,

~Lois

I've done all the steps below but the OPC's still don't display the drawing numbers they are going to or coming from. Is their an option for you to remotely connect to my machine and get you on the phone for further assistance?

One thing to check on the drawing numbers for off-page connectors is the "DWG Number" assignment. By default AutoCAD Plant 3D and P&ID uses the file name for new drawings as the DWG Title.

So unless a DWG Number is manually assigned inside the drawing properties, the Off-Page Connectors will not display the drawing numbers.

Hi Jason,

Me again:smileyhappy:

I've got the Equipment "TO" and "FROM" working great but now the Drawing "TO" and "FROM" aren't behaving properly. Please see the screen shots.

Can you double check the "Tag" property in the Text section of the attribute definition? It should be set to:

#(=Drawing.General.PnID)
