Is there any way to use the offpage connector symbol and connect to the same drawing file instead of a different drawing file? We want to do this because then the entire p&id can be in one file, with more than one viewport.
You should be able to use off-page connectors within the same drawing.
AutoCAD Plant P&ID does not allow jumping from layout to layout via off-page
connectors. Is that what you are doing? In any case, you should be able to
link them but not navigate between them as you would across drawings.

I tried it again and could not get this procedure to work. Yes, you can insert off-page connector symbols in a drawing but the sheet numbers cannot fill in because they are all in the same file. The workaround I can see is to use an AutoCAD block instead of a P&ID connector symbol. If anyone has a different idea please let me know. thanks
There is no restriction on connecting two off page connectors that are in the same drawing, if that is what you are trying to achive. Also, it does show the drawing number in the connector, although the drawing number is same as the current drawing number.
What you won't be able to do is connect two off page connectors that are connected to two ends of one Sline. And this is quite a valid case for not connecting.
