How do go about fixing this problem?

Another asset in the project has the same tag which has not been save. Cannot merge with that tag. Please enter the unit tag.

It is for equipment tag

Thanks
Eric

Can you provide steps to reproduce? This is a rather odd issue. Based on
what I see in the code, the tag is registered as used but the record of the
entity cannot be found in the session's cache. If this is happening on
placement from the TP then delay tagging until after the equipment is
placed. Right click on the placed equipment and assign the tag. If that
works then we have a bug we need to fix.

Re: Duplicate Tags

This happened after i changed the file names of the drawings. I added the new drawings into the project and the tags in some drawings disappeared. In the Data Manager there are duplicate entry's for those equipment numbers. One entry is missing the DWG Number and Tag but otherwise is exactly the same as the other entry.

Thanks for the help

Is the older file names still shown on the project manager? If they are, can you try removing the drawing from the project? It should remove all tags that were part of the old file.
If older drawing has been removed from the project somehow, but tags are not, then try the Audit project command. It is supposed to clear duplicate tags.

Jorge:

What if you have these ghost objects and the recover function, audit function, drawing audit function, and removing all drawings from a project do not remove the named ghost object from a project?

It appears that one of the objects I had created and tagged as BC-301 (an elongated belt conveyor) remains in the project even after I remove all drawings from the project. The only reference to this object that I can find occurs in the file "ProcessPower.dcf" and nowhere in the drawings that I can tell.

Any idea on how to purge this object from the database?

I'm afraid I do not have a better idea than to create a new project and add
in all the drawing files from the project with the ghost item. Please be
aware that doing this will result in losing off-page connections and it will
require that the orphaned connectors be reconnected manually. If possible,
email me the zipped up project folder (including drawings) and I will debug
the audit code to find out why it is not being removed.

Thanks, Jorge

Did you have any success with solving this?  I've come across exactly the same issue with multiple valves in P&ID 2013.  Can't find the valve number appearing anywhere in Data Manager, but when I try to place a component in some locations it tells me the same message you were getting - apparently the tag is not unique (even though it doesn;t appear in Data Manager anywhere!)
