Drawings opened with Hyperlink gives errors & wont prompt to save on exit!!!

We have installed Autodesk Product Design Suite Premium 2012 on our new Win 7 64bit computers with Office 2012.

With AcadM 2012 Clicking on a hyperlink or using VBA, DWG files opens instantly with errors in text window. With vanilla Autocad list of errors are long. After editing the drawing if we close the dwg without saving it closes without prompting to save and loose all edits.

This is consistent with Hyperlinks in dwgs and MS office 2012. Problem with Inventor is posted in Excel-is-waiting-for-another-application.

Hi,

does this only affect your existing files, or can you reproduce it with new files too? If yes, can you give us steps how to reproduce it?

If it is file specific - would it be possible to attach an example file? Also in this case please let us know what program the file was created in.

Best regards,

Silvia

I think you have misunderstood the problem (or is it me?).

Whenever a DWG file (new or old) is opened through a hyperlink and if we open the text window (F2), we can see the above mentioned errors. If the same file is opened from Autocad "open file dialog" there is no error. This error is visible with all dwg files we have here and all newly created drawings and it is consistant on all computers (Autocad LT 2012 & Autocad / Mechanical 2012).

Once the file is opened (through hyperlink), if we edit the file and close it (ie, when the file is dirty) there is no "Save changes to XXXXX.dwg?" prompt and file is closed. When the file is reopened (either by hyperlink or direct), it is opened without the previous edits. While editing (the file opened through hyperlink) if we save the file, file is saved and retains the edit. If we continue editing the file after a save, when the the command to close the file is given, there is no prompt to "Save changes to XXXXX.dwg?" prompt. The file will be closed with the last save and any edits after the previous save is lost. The only workaround we have isto save the file (click "save" or ctrl+s) before closing it.  Other one is use VBA ("ShellExecute 0, "Open", FPATH, "", "", vbNormalNoFocus") in a MS Excel macro.

The errors are same if the file is opened throgh a hyperlink in MS Office file (excel or word) or from a hyperlink in another autocad drawing. Again this is consistant on Windows Vista 64bit + MS Offfice 2007 & Windows 7 64bit + MS Office 2010 and Autocad LT and Full version.

I am attaching a set of files for your tests.

Is there a solution for this problem?

We are having the same problems with every drawing we open, new or old.

Configuration:

Hi,

This issue has been reported to our developers and you should use the suggestions made above (esp. saving before closing).

If you want to send your product feedback to our developers, here is the page:

I have AutoCad 2012, OS Windows 7 (64 bit) and using dual screens. When I open multiple dwgs from a Hyperlink in MS Excel 2010, 2 things happen

1) My autocad screen moves over top of my excel screen and it minimizes the autocad screen to the same size as my excel screen. So when I open my next drawing I have to move my Autocad screen out of the way.

2) I get the following Error: Command: error: VLISP: Internal: Document Application (.VLX) not found. If I edit my drawing then close it, it does not ask me to save and I lose all my changes.

Can you please let me know how I can resolve the above problems
