Autocad Mechanical 2013-Model Documetation of Inventor files and BOM/Parts Lists

Is there any way of creating a Parts List from views of Inventor parts and assemblies in ACADM 2013?

Seems the answer is no?...What's the point of adding this fuctionality if you can't add a parts list or balloons?

How would you attach a part reference to a Inventor model?

Any ideas? Am I missing something?

Thanks

Alex

Hello Alex,

In AutoCAD Mechancial 2013, you can attach a part reference to the drawing view geometry from inventor model or any other model sources. Also, you can attach a balloon to it.

But right now we cannot automatically get BOM information directly from inventor assembly file so you need to manually input BOM information in each part ref.

Steps:

1. you need to create drawing view from inventor models by VIEWBASE, VIEWPROJ, VIEWSECTION, VIEWDETAIL.

2. you invoke AMPARTREF to attach a part ref to drawing view geometry and then input BOM information.

3. invoke AMBALLOON to select the part ref and place a balloon.

4. Double click the balloon to select attach balloon button in Balloon dialog and then select drawing view geometry.

5. Invoke AMPARTLIST to place the part list into the drawing.

Thanks.

Michael,

Thanks for the reply.

It's unfortunate we can't leverage the meta data from the Inventor models. Hopefully we will be able to in the future.
