scaling Content Center items

Is there some trick to getting Content Center items to scale properly in ACAD Mechanical 2011?  Right now, we have to explode the Content Center items (such as Steel Shapes) first before we scale them in a detail view.  Thanks ahead of time for any helpful advice,

If you use amdetail to create a detail view, you can set the detail scale by specifying by absolute scale or by factor. It should be working for content items.

Could you please illustrate the problem a little bit?

Thanks,

This problem still exist in the 2013 version. You would think by now that Autodesk would have fixed the problem. A BIG problem!!!!! Specially when a person or company spends a lot of money on a program that doesn't work right.

"company spends a lot of money on a program that doesn't work"

That statement is only valid if the program doesn't start up when initiated. Most other shortcomings are user fault.

The correct way to create detail views was never to scale the items after drafting went from the board to CAD. May I suggest looking into the detail views creation tool or using viewports? There is no need to create any other objects using these two procedures. There are many tutorials available to select from - video or text.

The biggest problem with re-creating an object or a part of several objects, for a separate detail view, is that if you ever need to modify the original view you may lose integrity in the detail view if not properly updated to match. There is also the possibility that the scale of the objects isn't properly catalogued for the next user.

One incident in a previous office: A detail was created by scaling a bridge abutment. The abutment was modified and the CAD user didn't apply the correct scale as the objects, to the dimensions. The contractor based his concrete bid on the detail dimensions. He had $30,000 too little concrete spec'ed out. He sued the company to recoup the loss.

It is best practice to "link" the detail with the original and not re-draw it for a detail view.

Hi,

Can you please share more information on the problem? Any sample drawing or steps to reproduce this issue?

Thanks.
