Viewport Behavior

I'm using AutoCAD Mechanical 2008 and recently some things have inexplicably changed with my viewports.
The first thing I noticed was that I couldn't activate a viewport by double clicking in it...which I had always been able to do.
I tracked that problem down to the SPACESWITCH variable. I don't know how that got changed but I fixed it.

My issue now, is that when I double click on a viewport (not in, but on the border) it maximizes (for lack of a better term). It used to open a viewport properties dialog box, which is what I want.

I can still get to the properties of the viewport...but only via the properties panel, not the box that I'm used to.

Any insight would be appreciated.
