when you open the file, watch the command line - it
will tell you, otherwise you can open the drawing with notepad, and the first 6
characters will match something in the following table:

        Case
"MC0.0 "

sRelease = "1.1"
        Case "AC1.2
"
            sRelease
= "1.2"
        Case "AC1.4
"
            sRelease
= "1.4"
        Case
"AC1.50"

sRelease = "2.0"
        Case
"AC2.10"

sRelease = "2.10"
        Case
"AC2.20"

sRelease = "Internal version 2.20"

Case
"AC2.21"

sRelease = "Internal version 2.21"

Case
"AC2.22"

sRelease = "Internal version 2.22"

Case
"AC1001"

sRelease = "Internal version

        Case
"AC1002"

        Case

I opened the file in notepad to get the file format, but file saved in AutoCad mechanical 2004 and AutoCad mechanical 2005 are showing same characters as "AC1018".
Is there any way to check whether file saved in AutoCad mechanical 2004 or AutoCad mechanical 2005 file format?

I use the Batch Drawing Converter to check the version of the drawing. I
just put in the list of drawings i want to know the version of and it'll
tell you straight away.

When you know you just close the Batch Drawing Converter again.

Get the Batch Drawing Converter here:

AFAIK, there is no difference in file format between 2004,2005,2006. They
all have AC1018.

Are there some difference in AutoCAD Mechanical 2004 vs Mechanical 2005?
Can you open a Mechanical 2005 drawing in AutoCAD Mechanical 2004?
