Drawing a 'round' part

Hey all,

Been using Mech. for quite a while now and have recently started using Inventor. The feature in Inventor I LOVE! is that you can draw a centerline and then draw one side of your round part (example, a shaft with an oring groove on it) and you can dimension it diametrically (is that a word?) from the center line to create your part.

I guess the basic is that you have 'constrained' the lines for the diameters of the part to the center line.

Can I do this in Mechanical? And please dont ask me to use the shaft generator. I only say that because there are many occasions where it is just easier to draw it long hand (which I would do in Inventor now anyways).

Thanks for the input (as it comes in!)

If you are trying to create a round 3D part in Mechanical, you can use the REVOLVE command: REVOLVE COMMAND

From this 3D object, you can createa new "Part" component.  The instructions can be found here: CREATE PART

Hey there,

Nope, not looking to make a 3d part. Just standard 2D but sped up so I can create round simple parts faster. Maybe this is null issues and I am barking up the wrong tree since I use inventor...it just made me curious tho.

tks 😉
