Does AutoCAD mechanical 2014 automatically default to ft and inches?

I just am starting to use AutoCAD mechanical, now in the dimension style and all of that, i see it is set to decimal, but the text height is a fraction, implying architectural units. When I go to draw i see in the polar tracking back when i drag the line forward Feet and inches going up....I want it just in inches, please help.

Hi,

Could you please tell me which template are you using?

Thanks

See the  variable UNITS. This will allow you to select what units you key in at command line and what units you receive for the MEASURE command. Changing to "inches" will do what you want I believe.
