Is it possible to create an AutoCAD Mechanical drawing using an Inventor Assembly file as the base view but be able to use a different Positional Representation other than Master?

Yes you can. You can select the positional representation from the Representation panel, from the Drawing View Creation ribbon contextual tab at the time you generate the base view (VIEWBASE COmmand).
