Construction Line Dimming

I'm in Mech 2006..
When I activate a Component View (Top)
To Edit & Add Stuff..
Why Do Construction Lines Go Dim??
Construction Circles stay Nice & bright Red to See..
But Lines, Horiz, Vert, Angle... Get Dimmed and are hard to see??
They are Plainly Visible when NOT in an Active component View...
Just Wondering what's up with that??

Hi,

When you activate a component view, only the geometry in the view is
highlighted. I understand your concern since it seems that you still need
to use the construction lines while working with the activated view. There
is a setting to make the dimmed geometry that is not part of the view
brighter, but I am not sure if you can get the bright red color you desire.
On the plus side, you can still work with the construction lines even though
they are not bright red.

Although I am not sure how you are designing your parts, there are a couple
of options for working just with parts -

1. Use the construction lines to build the part or assembly before you turn
it into components
2. Build the part in a separate file that contains all of the construction
lines and then insert the part into your assembly

We will consider to allow construction lines to remain visible when a view
is activated in the future.

Regards,

Eric

How Come Circle Construction stays Visible though?
How I Design..
1. Add & name New Component & Top View..
2. Draw the Basic Shape of the component.
3. Add another Compnent..
When I get some or most of the design "Roughed in"
I go and activate component Views to add Bolt Holes and other features to Components..
When the Tool gets most of the way done.. There are a LOT of Holes and features and stuff.
So I Really Like how the Rest of the design Dims when a View is activated..
And also.. A lot of part features & feature locations are Based on Other features of Other parts..
So I am Constantly using Horizontal & Verticle Construction Lines..
As far as changing Transparency or?.. I tried that.. It did make Construction line Visible..
But Everyhting alse as Well.. So that Did Not work..

Thanks

Hi,

You may want to look at changing the color of the "AM_CL" layer from the
default red to a color that does not dim as much. Colors such as yellow,
green, cyan and orange (color 30) are still quite visible when dimmed.

To change the color, start the "Options" dialog box and select the
"AM:Standards" tab. Within the standards list on the right hand side there
is a control for "Layer/Objects". This contains a list of all machanical
"AM" layers along with their color, linetype and other settings. Make your
color change to "AM_CL" and once applied all existing entities on the layer
will change to the selected color.

I hope this helps.
