Cannot use any mechanical commands, 2004 DX

Yesterday I did some messing around with buttons and toolbars but didn't like my changes, so I reset the profile. Now, no matter which profile I choose (including <*<*ACADMPP*>*> ignoring the *'s), I can't use my mechanical tools (AMVER results in unknown command).

I also lost the Express Tools, but figured out how to get those back. I also lost all my menus for the related modules, but figured out how to get those back. But using them results in "unknown command."

I used to have extra AM_ tabs in the Options dialog, but those are gone now also.

With what do you start your ACADM ?? With the *.arg or the *.exe ?

Did u by any chance overwrite the acampp.arg instead of exporting one you
could alter?

I use the shortcut on the desktop, which targets:

"C:\Autodesk\Acadm 2004 DX\acad.exe" /p "C:\Autodesk\Acadm 2004 DX\acadm\acadmpp.arg"

I didn't do any sort of exporting or anything. All I did was go to Options -> Profiles, and pressed reset.

I don't have a Mechanical (left) option, or at least don't know where to find it. From View I can choose "Toolbars..." which will bring up the Customize dialog on the Toolbars tab.

But I did re-enable the mechanical menus (AMACAD, AMFLY)and buttons (by loading the menu files from Tools -> Customize -> Menus) and placed my favorite ones where they used to be. But when I try to use them, I get "unknown command" errors.

lol, you just said you don't have Mechanical menus, and what do I tell you
to do? Pick something off of the Mechanical menu. Sorry!
Might be easiest just to do a repair install.

Start AcadM with the .exe file. Delete the AcadM Profile you want to use,
i.e. AcadMPP or AcadM, etc. Restart AcadM the same way using the .exe file.
It should rebuild the profile with the correct toolbars, etc.

Yes, and thanks for the reminder. I know that trick always worked with
Vanilla but I'd never tried it with one of the vertical profiles.

To restore the AutoCAD Mechanical Toolbars do the following:

Start AutoCAD Mechanical
options
profile tab
make any profile current other than ACADMPP
delete profile ACADMPP
close AutoCAD

Start AutoCAD Mechanical from the original shortcut from the install (Start, Programs, Autodesk, AutoCAD Mechanical DX...)

When AutoCAD Mechanical starts, everything should be restored. If not check the shortcut to ensure the correct /p argument is being called out: "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Acadm 2004 DX\acad.exe" /p "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Acadm 2004 DX\acadm\acadmpp.arg" Message was edited by: dhoeschen
