AutoCAD Map 3D

I'm having issues with Mleader. I am using Autocad Map 3D 2008. When I send it to another company (using 2012) my leaders get stretched out. Even copying sometimes they automatically stretch (see attached).

When I change something in mleaderstyle they stretch even further. I think I'm close to figuring out what the problem is but I'm spending way too much time on it and now I am asking for help. Could it be the two different versions of AutoCAD?

2012 does have Mleader options not found in 2008 and may be the cause: if this is going to be a frequent exchange of files I recommend one of you start using the exact same series AutoCAd as the other (2008 or 2012).
