    bringing in xyz points

    Hi There,

I'm using mapimport to bring in xyz points and they have come in ok, except that they are flipped horizontally.

(they come in as a block)

Any ideas on how to flip them back?

Perhaps there is a command that rotates objects all at one time *not* based on one central point..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

does flipped mean 180 degrees on y axis? as in your x values are negative instead of positive or vice versa?

They do appear to be simply flipped 180 deg. The points come directly from the gps unit, so perhaps the data needs to be changed in some way before importing....
I have not yet tried inserting a negative sign in the CSV file. I'll try it in the morning.

    Hi,

then I guess that your columns for X and Y have to be changed.

You might just need to change the sign on the X values.  If you are in the western hemisphere, sometimes a GPS will record the X value as positve, and indicate otherwise that is it W, but a LL or similar CS in Map will expect -42 for example, not 42 and a W in a separate column.

Thanks! I tried a bunch of different variations on putting a negative sign in front of the x and the y... I'm working in UTM83 zone 12.
I did get it working ok, now just need to figure out why only portions of the data are completely off. That's a question for a different forum though.
