We are looking for a way to serve all the raster datasets we've collected over the years as a mosaic we have built in ArcGIS so that the AutoCAD department can simple import the mosaic and it will show the raster data in the location they are working. We have ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE.
Anyone accomplish this?
Preferbly without purchasing the ArcGIS Image Service extension.

AutoCAD map has the abiility to connect to WMS servers to get data. If you can publish your mosiacs on a WMS server you should be good to go. There are free softwares out there that do this(GeoServer, MapServer, Geozilla, World Wind Server and MapGuide Open Source).
