Hi to all Autodesk users,
I'm starting to use Autodesk Map with shapefiles and I've found some issues I hope you can help me with.
I'm collecting field data using Arcpad and I need to add this data to a unique shapefile using autodesk map.
The point is: I want to bring the data from the field campaigns and update a "major" and unique shapefile.
Is this possible?
Other thing: it's possible to export shapefiles according to certain field conditions?
For example, export all the features with the field "COLOUR = RED".
This is my first thread, thank you all in advance for your help.

You can not merge one ESRI shp file into another ESRI shp file with Map 3D.
What you can do is add new features to an existing shp file one by one with
the data connect tools or use SDF format files and append to new features to
it with an mapexport.
To export only certain objects by field value you need to filter those on
the selection to export, it really depends on how you bring those features
into map as to the best method to filter but to answer your question yes
that can be done.

Murph, thank you for you help.
Just to be sure:
1. It's not possible to "add shp information and keep it joined" to an existing shapefile. Correct?
2. About the export option: can the export be made to a shp file, keeping the data table (alphanumeric info) associated with the exported data?
Cheers!

You can not merge two shp files into an existing shp file. You can join
multiple shp files together then save as a SDF file that can later be bulk
copied to a NEW shp file.
You can export standard AutoCAD objects to a shp format and create the shp
file attributes from linked database tables, Object Data tables, or block
attributtes. If you have a shp file connection those items are features not
objects in Map3D, you can not "export" them you have to bulk copy to get
them to another GIS format.
