We have purchased and installed the Autocad MAP 2012, on the machine with following configuration:
CPU: Intel Core i3 550
RAM: 4GB
Graphic card: Integrated, ASUS EAH6450 Series
Operating system: Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64
Office: Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus 64 bit.
Hard disk space: Total 287GB, free 206GB
When trying to start the AutoCAD MAP 2012, it always crashes. It shows these messages in the command line:
Initializing.....Done.
Regenerating model.
*Cancel*
; error: Exception occured: 0xC00000FD (Stack Overflow)
And after this it displays the generic Windows message that the Autocad application has stopped working.
In the event viewer, two events are registered when this happens.
Event ID 1000:
Faulting application name: WSCommCntr3.exe, version: 3.2.23.0, time stamp: 0x4d2786b8
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17725, time stamp: 0x4ec4aa8e

Faulting application start time: 0x01cd45445d6c8f42

Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Report Id: 9c96d2e7-b137-11e1-b605-005056c00008
And several seconds after that, also event 1000:
Event ID 1000:
Faulting application name: acad.exe, version: 24.2.107.0, time stamp: 0x4e4b6362
Faulting module name: mfc90u.dll, version: 9.0.30729.6161, time stamp: 0x4dacf630

Faulting application start time: 0x01cd45445a91490a
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Map 3D 2012\acad.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft.vc90.mfc_1fc8b3b
Report Id: 9e54baf1-b137-11e1-b605-005056c00008
We have tried several suggestions we found online regarding similar issues, but to no avail. Customer Error Report box never shows up, so we haven't be able to report the crash this way.

In my humble opinion, since you've just bought Map, the right place to complain is your dealer's headquarter, not here, sir.

This is a strictly technical issue which
1. Dealers have little or no experience with;
2. Does not happen often;
3. Is related to an Autodesk product.
Therefore I think this is the place to ask for solution.

Hi,
>> Dealers have little or no experience with;
Wrong dealer chosen then ;( (too cheap?)
>> Faulting application name: WSCommCntr3.exe, version: 3.2.23.0, time stamp: 0x4d2786b8
That would me point to
- search if there is a task with that name active
- if so .... kill it
- rename the file to e.g. WSCommCntr3.exe_RENAMED
- restart AutoCAD
What's happening then?

The first thing, if you just purchased the license you may be able to get Map 2013, Ask your reseller. 2013 is a whole lot better than 2012.
If you stay with 2012 try the uninstall and clear all reference of Map from the registry and reinstall Map after you turn off all gizmos and gadgets running in the background especially virus protection routine. You reseller should guide you through this if you need help. There are instructions in the back post in this group as well as on the AutoCAD site.
I you can get 2013 install with the same precautions during the install.
Also check through this group for conflicts with MS Office on the 64 bit machines.

Tried it. The problem persists. Although the message regarding WSCommCntr3.exe does not show in Event viewer anymore.

Tried the reinstall of the MAP ant of the Windows already. Will ask for 2013, but I doubt they'll give it away that easily.

Hi,
Guessing into the dark: Is your system a Dell-system?
And in the meantime one additional try: login with another Windows-username and try the same operations.

Well, they won't "give" anything, you gotta buy the upgrade, unless you have a subscription (and sounds like it's NOT your case..)
Having only 4 GB Ram, I'd stay with the 2012 release, sir.

Hi,
no, it's not a Dell. And I have already tried with another username, it's all the same.
