fatal error opening design center

I have started receiving the following error:

FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0008 exception at 1286aebh

I had been getting fatal errors on opening the program with the very same message.  That has since passed but now it is happening when I try and open ADCENTER either at the command line or the ribbon button.

Map3D 2012

Intel Core2 Duo

2.66ghz

3gb ram

Thanks for any help....

meets minimum system requirements.... but i'd suspect that you're running out of memory as the likely cause.

perhaps your reseller or autodesk can trace a CER (Customer Error Report) and trace things further... can't do much for you from here other than suggest moving towards win7 64bit as a platform of choice. 😞  but this will reak other havoc for you...

I doubled my virtual memory and now the ADCENTER works.

Thanks!!

good to know.

as a rule of thumb for Civil3D (and now Map, it seems) - you should hardset the virtual memory at 2x the installed physical RAM - don't let the operating system (windows) manage the virtual memory, or you'll loose time due to the dynamic allocation of memory.  I do this as a matter of practice for my machines and completely forgot to suggest...

glad things are working better 🙂
