exporting Map5 to oracle spatial

I am running oracle 8.1.7 ( on solaris 8 ) - the spatial data created by Map5
appears to be formatted for spatial 8.1.5 ( or 8.1.6 prerelease ). Does anyone
know which version of Oracle Spatial is required or recommended ? Other than
the 'Map5 Getting Started', is there any info available for running against
Oracle Spatial ?

I attended an on-line training session yesterday. If I remember correctly,
I think the slide said 8.1.6 with a patch.

Hi,

Map 5 works with Oracle 8.1.6. It seems possible that it will work with 8.1.7, but there has been no official word from Autodesk on the latter.

What sort of information do you need for running Map with Oracle Spatial; are you after the Oracle server and client installation details?

Cheers,
David Walsh

I have had some time to experiment and can report that Map5 works ( at
least with the parcel layer I'm testing ) against Spatial 8.1.7.1 running
under Solaris8 - w/SSA, 450Mhz processors and using 8.1.7 client software on
NT4 / sp5. After reconfiguring the constraints/indexes onto different drives
and adding a few extra indexes it runs REAL fast( 100 mb connection to my client
). The next step will be to test Mapguide5 against this spatial layer - am
encouraged so far by the performance of the spatial index - have not analyzed
any tables yet.
