can I assign object data field 'elevations' to the ACAD polylines

Hi,

I am not a regular user of Map but I am proficient in AutoDesk LDT, Civil
and Survey.

My question is this:

I have a city contour plan which was 'Mapimported' into an AutoCAD dwg
format. Each new contour pline contains no Zed value, however I have found
that when I pick a contour pline using the 'Edit Object Data' feature in
Map, each pline has the elevation showing in the 'Object Data Field'.
...Hope I am making some sense to you Map users.

Is there a way to automatically assign the Object Data Field 'Elevation' to
the Zed of the ACAD pline entity?

FYI - The contour plan was mapimported from an ESRI shape file to dwg.

Hi Paul,

Here's the procedure.

Open a new DWG, attach the DWG with the contours, define a query to import
all the data, set Query Mode to Draw. Now you use Property Alteration to
change the elevation: this lets you change the properties of data as you
query it into the DWG. To move your points to the right elevation, you use
Property Alteration to change the Elevation, select Elevation, click on the
Data button near the foot of
the dialog box, choose the Elevation attribute, choose OK, then choose Add.

Choose OK and then Execute the query. Your data should come in at the
correct
elevation.

Let me know if you need more help.

Cheers,
David Walsh

Thankyou very much, it worked. The only part that took me a minute to figure
out was the 'value' which I set at >=100 because my contours where all
higher than that.
Awesome!

Thanks for the post. I've been needing to know how to convert Object Data into Elevations for contours exported from ArcGIS.
