Unique ID?

I am using ACAD MAP2000. I have all of my pipe information
linked to an external Data_base. When we place new pipes
using Digitize we are prompt with a box asking for a key
value. A new number must be entered to allow
entering object link data to be written to the
external data base. Is there a way to populate
the key field with a new number without having
to open up the data base and looking at the last number used?
There shold be a way to assign a group of numbers
to a drawing that will populate the key field
so to keep from repeating a number more than once.

Thanks
LL

Not that I am aware of, I'm afraid. You can of
course keep a Data View window to the database open and refresh it to show the
current state oof the database.

Sorry,

David
