Round trip compatibility from Map 2008 to AutoCAD 2009/Civil 3D 2009

Does anyone have any experience with multi version environment? I could use some guidance.

If you start with a drawing file created in Map 2008 that is connected to databases etc and then the drawing is opened and saved with a 2009 product like AutoCAD or Civil 3D will Map 2008 have any problems opening that drawing and having Map commands (queries, etc ) function properly. All insights welcome.
thank you

David

With Map3D commands I haven't ran into any, with
Civil3D if you added any C3D objects or styles into the dwg you run the risk of
things getting a little out of whack.

Thanks Murph.

Can you provide any concrete examples of things getting out of whack with if saved with Civil 3D.

Just check the Civil3D group for examples or do a
search on opening 2008 dwgs in 2009 and back. "IF" you're using C3D as Map3D
only and NO styles or C3D objects are in the template you open the dwg with you
may be safe.
