Result expected: Buffer with attributes

Dear forum members,

I would like AMAP to perform a BUFFER operation on a certain SHP, so the resulting buffer polygons would get the table attributes from that original shape, and also be exported as a SHP.

It is mandatory that a buffer polygon will have the same attributes from the original SHP line, including its FeatID.

Is it possible? Could anyone help me on it?

Thanks in advance.

Great question, one workflow would be the following:

  1. create centroids from the original shape, with full OD
  2. create the polygon topology
  3. make the topology buffer
  4. export the topology buffer to a shapefile
  5. import the latter
  6. transmit the centroids' OD to the imported shapefile

The last, crucial point is easily feasible in Qgis, while in Acadmap it's a real pain: good luck, sir.

If I follow you needs I believe this will work

buffer your shp creating a buffer sdf file.  Open the data table for the buffer and join the data of your shp to the buffer table, export the layer data to sdf, add it to the map with mapimport and mapexport to a new shp making sure to attached and include all the OD at each step, or use bulk copy to the shp.
