Project Basejump is a free technology preview on Autodesk Labs:
http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/basejump/
You can try inserting from Bing as a base layer in your AutoCAD Map 3D drawings. Please try it and reply to this thread.
When I try to "Add to Map" I get the error message as shown in post 33 but for a split second before that error message shows up an error about "Stylizing" flashes up then disappears.
I would really like to use the Bing map service, it looks great, but can anyone identify my problem?
The same thing happens to a another collegue. Cheers Caleb
Andrew, give Trend Micro "Office Scan" a try, I have not had any problems using it with this add on.

Basejump retired, even 2 days before the natural death: what's happening in Autodesk Labs'..?
Project Basejump will continue to work until June 30 for those who have it. I retired the Autodesk Labs web pages early so that new users do not download, install, and have the rug pulled out from under them only 2 days later. That would have been frustrating for them.
Hi Scott,
We hope in the next days to find a new brave technology, to use Web geographical data in Map 3D! 🙂
Many thanks
Giovanni
Hello, gperego
Have you ever found the solution for this proxy access with user authentication?
I'm having the same problem.
Tried the 'all_proxy' env variable but, of course, does't work for it uses authentication
TIA,
raa
I along with the other engineer here have been using project Basejump extensively for the past two months - now that it's gone, suffice to say, we miss it sorely. For what it's worth, consider this feedback a resounding cry to bring it back, we got so used to it, having to go hunt for ortho satellite images is going to be a huge pain. It's been an amazing tool, I feel almost lost without it.
So very sad that Project Basejump is gone. I have been using this for projects - now what do I do???
For those missing Bing in the background, think about OpenStreetMap (the defacto map for Apple)
Simply add a new WMS layer in Display Manager:
Data > Connect to Data > Add WMS Connection
You will the openstreetmap.org data from latlon.org
Nice touch. For those of you using Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server (mapguide) you can do this, even for you BASIC WEB LAYOUTS where you don't want to use Flexible web layouts

Thanks for the tip, G.
If I load the Latlon layer in a WMS opensource client, I can see all the beauty of the Bing imagery, by setting it like this.
What about you to try the same in Map/Civil 2013, instead of the OSM streets?
Is latlon.org a reputable service provider? I can not access latlon.org from our intranet because
latlon.org ist listed in our blacklist of “Trend Micro OfficeScan”.

hi Gordon,
Great suggestion!
I just published a post in my Blog for italian users of Map 3D
http://www.bimacademy.it/gis/2012/07/usare-openstreetmap-con-autocad-map-3d/
You can read it in english language using the Google button to translate in the left column of the Blog
Many thanks and regrads

Thanks, gluckett!
It works for me as long as I'm set to V 1.1.1, however when I zoom into a size and resample I get a black tile.... Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks
-Paul
Yes. I get the same problem. It looks fine when zoomed out to world level, but how do I resample as I zoom in?
The OSM WMS is looks like a good alternative. Thanks for the tip!
I can see the services, but when I try to add them to the map I get:
WARNING: The problems below were found applying style(s) to element osm:
Coordinate transformation failed for this feature.
Any thoughts?
C
Hi,
The best way to use OpenStreetMap data is to connect before a georeferenced map.
Data works well if you assign a coordinate system before connecting to WMS.
It is important also to use Proxy options, otherwise Proxy can stop connection

Giovanni
