Plotting Images with Map 5

I am trying to decide if AutoCAD Map 5 is the right program for our company. We are currently using an HP DesignJet 600 that is unable to plot raster images from AcadR14 because of the lack of memory, and I am wondering if Map handles the plotting itself within the software or if it sends it directly to the plotter as does AcadR14. We currently use another imaging program that plots successfully on the HP DJ 600. Thanks in advance,

I used to plot a *.plt file into
a directory by itself, then in DOS move into the directory to where the
*.plt files exist, and; print *.* >> lpt1

I think that is the DOS command. Get a good DOS
book to make sure

or try in DOS print /? that might help

Make sure your plotter is capable of plotting raster images. All the
memory in the store or an ACAD upgrade wont't help if the Design Jet is
not capable of plotting raster image. I know our old HP design jet 600
was not raster capable.

the system printers drivers from hp have an option in the advance tab region: go from printers > choose your printer > properties > advance. the you can choose to process your document in your printer or computer. choose computer.
if your printer is connected to a network I have encountered problems when sending it to the printer because the printer must get just the file portions that is plotting just now (like in old pen plotters connected to a serial port in old days). I solved the problem by plotting to a file then sending the file directly to the plotter (not via the printer server). good luck.
