What workspace are you using? Or better question what prior version were you
using?

Using map classic as workspace; coming from map 2010.

Either the cuix is corrupt or the workspace was edited. Do the map commands
still work. If so just go into the CUI and add the map menu. If none of the
map commands work (at command line) then is a bad cuix or failing to load, a
repair is the quick fix for that.

Do you have AutoCAD Map3D installed? Look in the program files is there a
complete folder for AutoCAD Map3D 2011.
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Map 3D 2011

Sounds like it attempted to start Map on a profile that does not exist. What it will do is open straight Acad without any map functions. I've fixed it by going into options, profiles. Re-naming the 'unnamed profile' to something meaningful, I use 'Stock'.

Then add the /p stock switch to your shortcut. This should start map up properly.
