Hi David,
The other option (which will be harder to nail down) is a memory conflict
with other applications. Can you please provide a list of other
applications on the machine (Example: Ms Excel 2000). Also, try plotting a
map set in safe mode. Here is a little background the type of error you are
receiving.:
SCANDR Scan Database Record
This indicates that AutoCAD has encountered an error while
attempting to update its temporary files at run-time. While the
AutoCAD Drawing Editor is running, AutoCAD frequently has to mark
changes and new additions to the temporary files containing the
present "state" of the drawing database. If any of these attempts
to update the drawing database or to update the files referenced by
the Drawing Editor fail, AutoCAD may abort with the above error.
If these errors happen frequently it may be a symptom indicating another
type of
problem, such as a hardware malfunction. If the cause of these errors is
because
of hardware problems, it is most likely a result of AutoCAD writing drawing
data to bad sectors on the hard drive. Running SCANDISK may help
in marking bad sectors.
Try recovery on the drawing. If that fails, then try using ddinsert to
insert
the bad drawing into a new start from scratch drawing. That is your best
chance
of recovering the drawing.
Suggestions for improving the chances of limiting the re-occurance of this
error message is to remove the virtual paging file, safe boot the system,
run
SCANDISK, reboot the system again in safe mode, rebuild the virtual swap
file to
be 3 to 4 times the ram.
