Importing Hatching in ArcView 9.2

I am try to use a .dwg file as a basemap in ArcView. The water bodies are hatched but will not come in with the rest of the drawing. I would symbolize the polygons with a fill of blue in ArcView as an easy workaround but a lot of the hatches do not have boundaries (no idea why they were deleted). Just wondering if there is a way around this??
thx.

You could recreate the hatch boundary with hatchedit then explode the hatch and erase the fill. Should be able to export then.

You may not need to explode the hatch, just remove the associativity from the polyline. I believe they will then be both separate entities.
