Images won't remove, ghost left

I have combined LDD/Map3d 2007 with all the patchs. Adding and removing
images by means of the display manager often results in ghost images being
left in my drawing that I cannot remove. Often also I will click an image
off but it will not go off.

When I open up XREF I see grid textures that point to temporary bmp files
but I cannot detach them. Map>Image>Manage cause the program to crash to
desktop.

Any ideas? I have a support request in but no answer.
