As a possible quick fix, use the Mapexport from the Tool menu, make the
appropriate selections, including the Object Data table, and then instead of
exporting the file, use the option to save your parameters to a file. Close
the Mapexport dialog box, and then from the command line use -Mapexport and
then chose to load the file you just saved. From there you can select the
objects you want to export and continue through the command, and the
resulting shape file should contain the Object Data table information.
Why? I don't know, but somehow importing the saved file sets some unknown
key that allows the export to work.
