Greg,
running the Map > Import command, when having selected the coverage to
import, Map brings up the Import dialog box. In this dialog all coverage
components are listed.
You can see a column called 'Data' with a default value of . Pick
the of the Input Layer that contains the attribute data. A button
with 3 dots (...) becomes visible. Pick this button, it brings you to
the 'Attribute Data' dialog box where you can select the fields to
import.
When the import was done the selected attribute data should be linked as
object data to the objects.
