Display Manager Layers become nonresponsive

I'm working on a drawing where I've been turning on/off a layer for parcels so I can select a well (point coverage/theme) or the parcel to get well owner and property information.  All of a sudden I can't select the layer anymore - the checkbox becomes unresponsive.  Has this happened to anyone else?  C3D and not map for this...

FDO layer or AutoCAD layer? FDO layer yes seen it many of times.

Instead of the restart, do a complete shut down of the workstation, clock out and spend the rest of the day at a sport bar wachting TV.  🙂
